To dilute science to simply running a benchmark and seeing which number is the biggest is a travesty. You don't need a PHD for that. Yet, this is considered the pinnacle of scientific objectivity.

How to Think About Math and Science

Math and science, for all their intimidating complexity, are profoundly human. They weren’t birthed by some omnipotent force or derived from an unreachable plane of existence—they were created by people, just like us, who thought and dreamed in the context of their human experiences. Each seemingly inscrutable equation, each dense theorem, and each intricate model is the product of human insight. To grasp this is to strip away the mystique of mathematics and science and see them for what they truly are: the crystallization of human thoughts into structured, objective forms.

The Future of AI: Continual and Lossless Learning

I dismiss the current definition of "technological singularity- when AI is smarter than humans" as nonsense and a misrepresentation of what being intelligent means. AI is already more capable than humans at certain tasks, and I believe that it is impossible to truly quantify intelligence because it is the culmination of biological systems and experiences. For this excerpt, singularity refers to the ultimate minimization of what a single model would predict (for everything and anything that it could be asked to predict), and what actually happens next. Succinctly, a singularity is reached if a single model, that has access to all the data in the universe, can accurately predict anything and everything that will happen next.
